Meet Ciara King | Doula + Founder of Kingdom Beginnings Birth Worker Collective; Serving Clients in Central MN + Twin Cities

Ciara King, Founder of Kingdom Beginnings

Ciara King is the founder of Kingdom Beginnings Birth Worker Collective, serving families throughout Central Minnesota, the Twin Cities, and surrounding areas as a birth doula, postpartum doula, childbirth educator, Certified BRM® Pro, and certified VBAC & cesarean birth professional.

At the heart of her work is a passion for supporting women and families effectively. Ciara is dedicated to helping them feel seen, informed, encouraged, and cared for throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She believes that birth is a vulnerable, powerful, and transformative season, and that families deserve support that is steady, respectful, faith-filled, and rooted in both compassion and truth.

Importance of Doula Support

A fun fact that she often shares is that research has shown continuous labor support is associated with lower cesarean rates, shorter labors, and more positive birth experiences. Ciara also values helping fathers and support people feel confident in their roles, particularly in situations where being hands-on or emotionally expressive may not come naturally. She enjoys guiding them on how to support in practical, meaningful ways, allowing them to feel more connected, equipped, and present in the birth space. Ciara has witnessed firsthand how this support can shape not only a mother’s experience but also the experience of the entire family. Her own births have influenced her deep commitment to this work. As a doula, she emphasizes that she never replaces a support person; rather, she fills in gaps, offers guidance, and helps create space for them to be more confident and involved in ways that serve the mother well.

Approach Focused on Christ

Her faith is a huge part of who she is and how she serves. She loves Jesus, and her heart behind this work is to reflect Him in the way she cares for people. She wants families to experience peace, support, and the goodness of God in one of the biggest seasons of their lives. While her work is Christ-centered, she also cares deeply about offering evidence-based education, honoring each family’s choices, and creating space where they feel genuinely supported rather than pressured.

Supporting Every Birth Plan

She supports families planning all kinds of births, including home birth, birth center birth, hospital birth, medicated and unmedicated birth, VBAC, cesarean, first-time parents, and growing families. She is passionate about helping women understand their options, trust the design and wisdom of their bodies, and walk through birth feeling confident and supported.

Bodywork-Informed Support Approach

She is also passionate about bodywork-informed support through the Body Ready Method®. That training has been meaningful to her both personally and professionally. She loves helping women better understand how their bodies function during pregnancy and in preparation for birth, especially regarding tension patterns, mobility, alignment, comfort, and movement. She has witnessed how valuable this understanding can be not only in pregnancy and birth preparation but also in postpartum recovery and everyday life.

This work has impacted her personally, too. As she began applying these principles in her own life, she started recognizing long-standing movement patterns and areas of chronic pain that she had simply accepted as normal. Seeing that change gave her an even deeper appreciation for how connected the body really is and how much intentional support can matter.

Beyond Professional Experience

Before stepping into doula work full-time, she spent nearly a decade in union construction and worked as a foreman. Leaving that career was not her plan, and neither was building a collective. But she believes that God knew better all along. Looking back, she can see His kindness so clearly in both. He used that season to shape so much in her: leadership, grit, problem-solving, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. This journey led her into work she never would have guessed would be where she belonged, but now she cares so deeply about it. What began as simple obedience has grown into a genuine love not only for serving families directly but also for building a strong, faith-filled collective that can support families well.

Outside of work, she is married to her best friend, Jordon, and together they have three children. They are a homeschooling family, and home life is full in all the ways: faith, learning, messes, growth, adventure, and so many little moments that matter more than she often realizes initially.

She is passionate about natural living, family wellness, growing in her faith, and the pursuit of continuous learning. She cares deeply about community and connecting families with trusted support, which is a significant aspect of the vision behind Kingdom Beginnings. She loves supporting families not only through her own hands-on work but also by building a team of like-minded doulas who can serve with consistency, compassion, faith, and strong backup support.

Her heart is to help strengthen families from the very beginning and to care for them in a whole-person way, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
